Description:

Aiming to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the city of Rivne, there was a directive to create a Hydropark near the Ustia River and a Children’s Railway: the authorities had to install a fountain, arrange paths, plant trees, decorate the area with decorative sculptures.

The Hydropark, located along the Ustia River, was created by the joint efforts of citizens in 1986.

The artist from Rivne Leonid Forsiuk, who at that time worked in the Art and Production Plant of Rivne Region is the author and designer of mosaic sculptures. Today visitors can see the following sculptures around the lake: Neptune with the Mermaid, a giant crocodile, flower trees, fish.

According to the initial project design, there should have been mini-sculptures of waves and fish near the Neptune and the Mermaid, which are now on the opposite side, and a lot of stones to hide the piles on which the sculpture stands. At the same time, the crocodile was supposed to shred “crocodile tears” (tubes for water supply were installed in the pupils of the sculpture). However, due to lack of time and funds, the concrete mosaic sculptures of the Rivne Hydropark have never been completed.
