The hillfort site has an irregular oval shape with the sizes of 120×130 m; it is protected by steep slopes from the south and west, a gully from the east, an arched rampart on the northern side and a moat in front of it. The southern part of the site was destroyed by a quarry. Removing the topsoil (overburden) from the walls of the quarry showed that the thickness of the humus layer here is from 0.5 to 0.9 m. It is weakly saturated with finds and artefacts. The archaeologists managed to find only fragments of moulded vessels of the Bronze Age here. The Slavic/Kyivan Rus settlement is located on a hill northward of the hillfort, on the field-facing side. The material collected on the site contains fragments of pottery of the 10th-13th centuries.
