Bashynsʹke horodyshche (Bashyne Hillfort)

Antonovych surveyed the Bashyne Hillfort at the beginning of the 20th century. J.  Fitske explored it in the 1920-1930s and B. Prishchepa has investigated the site repeatedly.

Status:

Archaeological monument of national importance.

Location:

The hillfort is located on the western outskirts of the Bashyne village, Buhryn Territorial Community (Hromada), on the cape of the indigenous right bank of the Horyn River.

Description:

The site is close to a quadrangular shape with the sizes of 90×80 m, it rises above the river floodplain by 40 m. On the eastern field-facing side it is protected by a rampart and a moat in front of it. On the northern and southern sides, 3-4 m below the level of the site, there is a horizontal 4-5 m wide terrace. The archaeologists have not found any cultural layer at the hillfort.
