Description:

The local authorities granted the status of the “Ahativka” Reserve in accordance with the Decision of the Rivne Regional Council dated March 5, 2004, No. 322. The State Enterprise “Ostroh Forestry” manages the object (Hoshcha Forestry, sq. 18, 19, 20).

It is a conifer-dominated reserve, the majority of stands belong to pine.

According to one of the legends, in one of the isolated terrains a beautiful flower grew between the trees. It was very common in those distant times, it used to grow all over the area. It was afraid neither of the shade nor the sun. This plant was small, semi-creeping, the leaves were small, the flowers are fragile, amazingly green, even blackish. Anyone who visited the area and saw that flower could admire its beauty and aroma for hours. People called this flower ‘ahata’. Most probably, that’s where the name of the place comes from: “Ahativka”.

There is a Children’s Recreation Camp called “Ahativka” on the territory of the reserve, which was built in 1979.
