The total area is 12 hectares. The status was granted in accordance with the Decision of the Rivne Regional Executive Committee dated November 22, 1983 No. 343 amended in line with the Decision of the Regional Executive Committee dated June 18, 1991 No. 98 ). The Kornyn Village Council manages the object.

The authorities granted the status in order to preserve the natural vegetation complex on the hills of the central part of the Rivne plateau. The territory of the reserve consists of two sections: 3 and 9 hectares, and covers the parts of the forest with hornbeam and maple plantations. In the understorey one can find Corylus avellana (i.e. the common hazel), Sambucus nigra (i.e. black or European elder), and Euonymus verrucosus. It is a nesting place of the thrush nightingale (Luscinia luscinia), also known as the sprosser, willow warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus), Eurasian magpie or common magpie (Pica pica), and great tit (Parus major).

The reserve has a rich entomofauna.  There are such species as Tettigonia viridissima (i.e. the great green bush-cricket), violet oil beetles, and Anisoplia austriaca. One can see a Carabus violaceus (sometimes called the violet ground beetle), Anthocharis cardamines (the orange tip), and Papilio machaon, i.e. the Old World swallowtail (all listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, an official national red list of the threatened animals, plants and fungi that are protected by the law in Ukraine).
